Welcome to our page. The information below will give you an insight into the functional skills qualification for both English and maths.
The functional skills maths and English exams have 5 levels that you progress through to get to the final level. The final level out of the 5 levels is the GCSE equivalent qualification. The first level is entry level 1, the second is entry level 2, the third is entry level 3, the fourth is level 1and the fifth is level 2. The level 2 qualification is the qualification you need if you are applying to university and employers prefer this level.
There are different exam boards and awarding bodies that provide maths and English functional skills exams for learners. The City and Guilds is not of the largest exam boards so it’s no brainer that the City and Guilds functional skills level 2 is popular. However, the curriculum that the majority of the exam boards follow is set by the government so there is no difference between the materials that you have to learn. There are loads of different functional skills courses that have small differences between them.
Leeds Maths Tutors have accumulated previous questions to help answer them for you so you have a better understanding about the functional skills qualifications.
