Here at Leeds Maths Tutor we provide limitless support for learners in their education to make sure they are fully prepared to make the next step in their careers. Something we want to discuss today is the speed in how to get a GCSE maths qualification. Due to the limited exam periods for the standard GCSEs, it has pushed students to look elsewhere for ways to progress. There are some alternatives that they should seriously consider.

As the GCSE maths exams are usually taken at 2 set dates in a year, around May/June and November, not everyone can be as prepared as they would want to be. It would have to be taken at a registered exam centre with 3 different papers being taken at different dates and times. There isn’t much discussion to be had about flexibility in the timetable as everyone in the country takes the exam at the same time. This is one of the main reasons that learners tend to start looking elsewhere for other alternative paths. The main one that they usually come across is functional skills maths level 2. A qualification that provides a way into the next parts of their careers. And with it being ofqual regulated, this means that it is accepted by most major Universities and employers as a GCSE equivalent grade C. For the standard GCSE exams you are looking at around 6 weeks to get your results back while the online functional skills exams usually take a number of days to return which is the fastest way to get a GCSE maths qualification. Equivalency tests are another option for learners but many don’t go that route as it tends to be more specific to teacher training and not accepted as much as functional skills and GCSE qualifications.

The most important part about deciding what to do in this situation is to evaluate your personal circumstances and determine which is best for you in getting your maths GCSE qualification.
