We here at Leeds Maths Tutor have been selected as a DfE-Approved tuition provider for the National Tutoring Program. Parents cannot enrol children as only schools can participate in this so it will go through their subject teachers. NTP tutoring is being offered by MME for subjects such as maths, English and science. The main target of this at the moment are GCSE aged students but that may change and expand in the coming weeks and months. We understand that parents will want the best for their children so additional support will always be welcome. If you are a parent interested in this and it being fully funded through their school, please contact your school and ask about MME as a provider.
Here are some common questions that people tend to have in regards to the National Tutoring Programme.
What is the National Tutoring Programme?
NTP is a government initiative that has a goal of helping schools financially for tuition to improve learning outcomes. Originally this was made as a way of assisting children in catching up after what happened during the pandemic. But since then, it has slowly expanded after the results were revealed of how effective tuition can be.
How does the NTP funding work?
Each school will receive £162 per pupil that is eligible for Pupil Premium. Any student that is part of the NTP can utilise the money. This funding is released to students 3 times in a year being in April, September and December. Schools are allowed to claim 60% of the cost up to a maximum of £18 per pupil per student.
Is the NTP tuition online or in person and it is in groups?
You have many options to choose from when it comes to this. You can have 1-2-1 tuition in person or even online group lessons. It is important to know that the 1-2-1 can tend to be much more expensive than the group sessions though.
How does the DfE national training programme make a difference?
There is evidence to prove that the tuition provided through this programme has a big influence on the outcome with students, the GCSE students in particular.
